Measure Up

Do you ever feel like you don’t measure up to those around you? Join the club. I bet we all have struggled  with this at some point in time. From relationships, job capabilities, and even with our physical appearance, we have used some form of measurement to feel good about ourselves.

The good news is that God doesn’t view us  as we view ourselves. He sees potential, when we see failure. He sees victor when we see victim. He gave us enough of what He desired for us to have, in order to perform the purpose that He has for us.

“I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.” Psalms‬ ‭139:14‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

  • You ARE enough.
  • You CAN fulfill the vision He placed in you (you know the one that you have pushed to the back of your mind because of your own personal measuring stick).
  • You DO matter and you do measure up.

We cannot hate ourselves into a version that we can love. Think about what you’re beating yourself up over. Now consider this: Does it really matter? If you reach this “level of standard,” that you’re placing  yourself up against, is it going to transition you into this wonderful life of no worries and cares?  I can guarantee that the people you compare yourself to also compare themselves to someone else. Don’t get me wrong. It’s wonderful to celebrate a person’s positive changes in their lives and how they’ve moved forward. But now it’s your turn. There’s no respect of person with God. His word works for all those who believe and apply it to their lives…daily! That SAME God can change your life as well.

If we’re not trying to measure up to God’s word, the standard is insignificant.

If we learn to focus on the progress rather than the perfection, we will allow ourselves growth in wisdom in our spiritual walk.

“As for me, I will see Your face in righteousness; I shall be satisfied when I awake in Your likeness.” Psalms‬ ‭17:15‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
