Assigned Purpose

You know that there is one; there is something that you are supposed to do, but you aren’t certain what that something is.

That something is called purpose, but what exactly is your purpose and How can I be certain that you have purpose? Well, for starters, you are here. You were created. You were born.

I was listening to a message from Bishop T. D. Jakes. He said something that resonated with me.

He said: “You cannot reassign purpose.”

Can I tell you how many times I have tried to reassign something – even today as I sit with and sit on something that I KNOW is God-given?

A beautiful phenomenon of which you had no involvement and no control over, presented you as a gift to a woman and a man who you identify as your mom and dad.

At the root of who you are- the very core of your existence, lies a predetermined path for your life and the ONLY way to be certain of what that path (purpose) looks like, is to seek the Purpose-Giver. That would be God.

This is probably why most of us are uncertain of our purpose. We do not seek God. We seek other voices and ask them what do they see in us. Truth be told, a person cannot clearly see what they did not place in you.

A person may recognize a gift or an ability – but unless it is revealed to them, they cannot tell you your purpose. Your passions, the things you like to do, may provide a glimpse into your purpose – but at the heart of God and why He created you- sits your purpose.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah‬ ‭29:11‬ ‭NIV‬‬

I encourage you (and myself) to seek the heart of God. At the heart of God lies His purpose that He has for you. If you seek His heart, you will see His hand guide you throughout life, for the fulfillment of your purpose.

In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.” Proverbs‬ ‭3:6‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

And if you stay in God’s will, you will never see His hand removed from your life.
