Have you ever felt scared, uncertain, and nervous about your present and future?
Well, ain’t no use in me lying…I have. I know the feeling. You know what you have been chosen to do, but the very fact that you were chosen is humbling in itself- especially…when it stretches you beyond who you thought you were and what YOU thought you were supposed to be doing.
You tell the Lord: “if it’s you telling me Lord, I’ll do it.”
Then we become afraid when the Holy Spirit confirms that it is Jesus.
Peter did the same thing. He asked Jesus – Lord if it’s you, command me to come. Peter became scared, after taking a few baby steps; even though Jesus told Him to walk on the water.
The experience was not what Peter has anticipated. If Peter had any idea that he would begin to sink, would he have done it?
Circumstances caused Peter to question what Jesus told him to do. And as He always does, Jesus reassures Peter that He would never leave or forsake Him.
I’m encouraging you AND myself on this morning. No matter what people say. No matter what it looks like. If Jesus told you to do it, wait for His cue, and DO IT! He made no mistake. Jesus is sure that He called you.
“And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!” And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” Matthew 14:28-31 NKJV
