Monday Motivation

Here we go…MONDAY! Need motivation to get through? Did you have your coffee this morning to get you going? What is your morning routine?

What motivates you? In other words, what reasons do you use to push yourself to love, to be effective, and to push through challenging times? Is there a person that can seem to get the best out of you? Is there a past experience that pushes you to excel? Is motivation driven by your feelings? In fact, feelings are described as an emotional state someone may be in. If you always need a feeling to gain momentum in your life, your growth in any area can become stagnant. Let’s be realistic. We do not always feel like doing anything. The reality is we have to. You may not have felt like letting go of the pillow this morning, but to obtain a paycheck for your labor, you had to let it go.

God is not motivated or controlled by His feelings. But that does not mean that He has no feelings. We are made in His image, in His likeness.

“So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” Genesis‬ ‭1:27‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Just as we have feelings, and can be hurt, our Father also has feelings.

Jesus wept. John 11:35

The LORD was grieved that he had made man on the earth, and his heart was filled with pain. GENESIS 6:6 NIV

Love is a feeling that produces an action. If we say that we love someone, demonstration of that love would be obvious, right? The bible says that God is love. He demonstrated His love in this manner:

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” ‭‭John‬ ‭3:16‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”‭‭Romans‬ ‭5:8 NKJV

Are you hurting The Lord by your actions? Do you say that you love Him and that you are a replica of Him, however, your actions and appearance speak a different language? Do you have to be motivated to read your Bible and learn of Him? Do you have to pump up yourself to give the Lord thanks and praise, even when faced with unexpected circumstances

Are you motivated to be a servant of the Lord or compassionate in serving? Jesus was not motivated. His moves were calculated and determined by compassion.

And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou clean. Mark 1:41

Let us not be motivated but moved with compassion.
